Good-bye India and hello Singapore

Time for another english blog entry. We have left Kolkatta and are now in Singapore-what a contrast! Unfortunately India gave Jan an unwanted good-bye present – foodpoisoning. He started to get really sick in the taxi to the airport. And by the time they arrived there, he was ready to throw up for the first time. That was not a good start for a flight. It continued on the plane added with some serious diarrea. The only good thing was the the girls of Team Kunz were not affected. It was Lolas first flight and she did well. For her it was probably no difference than driving in a car-she slept most of the time and even during take-off and landing she seemed unimpressed. Good for her! We were more than happy to arrive in Singapore, Jan mainly for the fact that he could finally sleep. And Liliane because her sister was there to pick us up from the airport. She has come to Singapore just to see us – which is great.

After sleeping for more than 24hrs Jan started to feel better again and the girls went out to see some of the city. The monsoon is in full swing and it has been raining quite a bit since we got here. Other than that all seems so clean and organized here after Kolkata. What a difference to India.

We had to leave India before our car and hope that the whole shipping will happen they way it was planned. If all goes like plan, Nanuk will arrive in Auckland around January 10th. We had to leave our Carnet de Passage with customs in India and our car keys as well. It was promised to us that all these things plus the so called „bill of laden“ will be couriered back to New Zealand as soon the ship will sail from Kolkata. That should be on December 4th according to the shipping company.

The bill of laden is the document that states that the container and it’s content is actually ours, without it we can’t extract the car in Auckland. So it’s cruical that we’ll have these documents before the ship arrives. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that it all happens as promised. Right now we are enjoying the new place and hope to have a few good days in Singapore before leaving to Auckland.
